Finally surfacing from behind the scenes, singer/songwriter Cheyenne Lavene has released her debut single 'Runaway' - an honest and soulful expression of the day to day hardships of life. Cheyenne was born in Camden, NJ. Discovering a passion for music in her youth, she spent years performing at local events & venues, collaborating with indie artists, and taking advantage of creative opportunities - including singing background vocals for Mariah Carey during her 'Adventures of Mimi' tour in Philadelphia. Cheyenne attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on a partial music scholarship, enabling her to perform abroad as part of the university's concert chorus.
In 2012, Ms. Lavene released her self-titled debut mixtape 'Girl Next Door' under the production of former Atlantic Records signee & mentor Kleph Dollaz. She relocated to Los Angeles after his death later that year. While in LA, Cheyenne worked her way up to collaborating with some of the industry's most sought after creatives. Notable collabs include recording artist Zendaya, hip-hop pioneer MC Lyte, and Dr. Dre - for whom she provided vocal accompaniment on the grammy-nominated album 'Compton'. Cheyenne continues to top-line and vocal produce both emerging and established artists, with her most to date works reaching no 8 on Billboard's Dance Chart, and no 4 on iTunes R&B Chart. Cheyenne will be releasing her first EP in the spring.
